FINAL CELEBRATION for all!
Potluck & Herbal Medicine Exchange!

To attend this event you need to have a dish to share and an herbal gift to give out - and have attended at least 3 classes.

Bring a dish from your ethnic roots that is special and/or comfort food for you (enough to share). Also bring something you have made by hand with herbal medicine (or adjacent arts) that can be exchanged with everyone else at the celebration. We will finalize how many people are coming as it gets closer so we can each know how much medicine to make. For example - bring 20 handmade herbal salves so each person can take one home.

Barter options:

#1 barter homemade herbal medicine:
Contribute herbal medicine that you make (if you already are making herbal medicine) or another approved item we can use in our kits. Here is a sample of some of the herbal adjacent items we put in our kits: art and affirmation cards that encourage emotional resilience, homemade natural cleaners, clean socks, natural wipes, hand warmers, mini sewing kits, and you might have another idea of what we might include - we continue to evolve!

The herbal kits we are distributing at present: RESILIENCE (nervous system support for stress and trauma), immune support, and kits for those who are unhoused.

#2 volunteer making herbal medicine together:
Help out at one of our scheduled medicine making times to make medicine together to distribute in our kits and at herbal consults. You can see on the year calendar (first item under "CLASSES" in the bar at the top of the page) and in SignupGenius when the two medicine making times each month will be.

#3 cash donation:
The value of each class is $30, but this is a sliding scale collaborative where we do not want anyone not attending because of financial constraints.

There are other volunteer options available like delivering herbal kits, teaching a class for us, helping set up and clean up before and after classes, painting our community room, driving someone to a class who needs a ride, supporting an elder in our community who is in need of a visit, body work for elders, etc.

Foundation Classes
Herbal Classes 2025

Please consider joining in the Detroit Region Herbal Collaborative Foundations classes. We have designed this track to be a well rounded set of educational opportunities to help equip new herbalists to have a strong knowledge of the wonder and craft of herbalism.

This includes classes on herbs extracted in oils, alcohols, & water, an herb walk, medicine making opportunities, strecipes (support for the nervous system), cooking with herbs, fermentation, medicinal gardening and more on the nervous system (which is king).

When you sign up for this track our expectation is that you attend all the classes for the year. We understand that there are occasional scheduling conflicts and emergencies, but please prioritize the entire year (Feb til Nov) so that you can have a full understanding of herbalism basics and build strong relationships within the collaborative as we are more focused on building a strong network and not just moving herbalists through a program.

Collaborators who complete these 9 months of classes can bump up to the advanced classes for community herbalists the next year. If you join mid year then you can complete what classes you missed next year. Please feel free to come and visit once to see if this community is a good fit for you and then decide if you want to join in.

We are a barter based collaborative (you can barter volunteer time, your homemade herbal medicine and adjacent skills, and/or cash) so we would love for you to really value and honor the teachers and organizers time and investment in the community by putting these on your calendar and being a consistant part of the cohort.

This community is built at the speed of relationships.

Location of our classroom is near McNichols & Livernois in Detroit.

Address and details given upon registration.

Please register for class via the SignupGenius link and let us know what your barter will be (3 options available). One of the things that makes the DRHC distinctive is that we are barter based and we are working towards building healthy community at the intersection of social justice, racial conciliation, and herbalism. Please join us! This is joyful work!
